How many times have you looked up, paused for a moment, and thought, “That’s pretty cool”? Those simple words often sneak up on us when we least expect them—like during an unforgettable sunset or the sudden calm after a storm. For me, that moment came unexpectedly as a severe storm rolled into town.

I was racing home ahead of the downpour when the sky began to perform. Thunder cracked in the distance, lightning streaked across the clouds, and the fading sun cast a surreal glow on everything. I made it home just in time, and as I stood in the driveway watching the atmosphere come alive, I caught myself whispering, “That’s pretty cool.”

I was ready to head inside, but then it hit me: this wasn’t just a storm—it was a show. A dramatic, once-in-a-day kind of performance. So I did what any drone enthusiast would do, I launched.

The thought of flying a drone with a storm looming overhead made me pause. But after running through my usual safety checks and evaluating the risks, I decided to launch. It turned out to be one of my shortest flights—but easily one of the most memorable. What I captured in just a few minutes was a stunning view of nature’s raw power and beauty.

I shared the video online, not expecting much. But to my surprise, it went viral.

That response made me stop and think: What if we all shared more of these moments? The world is full of incredible, fleeting experiences that remind us how beautiful—and dramatic—life can be.
